Account and Location Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
- An email address you can access
- A password (stored securely in hashed form)
- Account role information (buyer, broker, etc.)
- Location information appropriate to the services you are using
For buyers, location information may be used to:
- Calculate distance to vessels
- Estimate storage or slip costs
- Provide regional market context
In some cases, a specific street address or nearby location may be requested to improve accuracy. This does not need to be your exact home address — only a location accurate enough to make calculations meaningful.
We do not collect precise location data unless it serves a clear functional purpose within the platform.
Listing Information (Brokers and Sellers)
When listing a boat, detailed vessel location may be required so buyers can:
- Evaluate distance
- Assess transport logistics
- Verify regional availability
This information is necessary for marketplace transparency and trust.
Data Minimization
We collect the level of detail reasonably necessary for the task being performed.
Examples:
- Buyers may provide a specific address or nearby location to improve distance or cost estimates. This does not need to be their exact home address.
- Vessel listings require accurate location information to maintain trust and integrity.
- Account access requires an email you can access — not necessarily your primary personal address.
We avoid collecting detail that does not serve a clear functional purpose.
